Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn started

The first episode of Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn has been released and it looks good. All of the Gundam series starts off with a kid who gets tossed into a mobile suit battle. And of course these 16-year-old kids pilot their Mobile Suit like an expert in less than 5 minutes.

This series takes place in UC 96, only three years after Char’s Counterattack. This feels odd, the main character feels like an Amuro Ray clone. And in episode 1 they mention that the character Full Frontal is called Char reincarnated. It’s only three years after Char died, so that’s an odd comment.

The story looks good and the animation works. It’s like they are intentionally copying the style of how the people are from War in the Pocket; that might be just to maintain the continuity.

Darker than Black – Gaiden

The anime Darker than Black Gaiden has started.  The last series was not too bad but this seems to have more action. It’s supposed to take place right after the first season.

I’ll keep an eye on it and see if it’s worth following.

New season of Darker than Black

The anime Darker than Black has started a new season and it’s set 2 years after the end of the first season.  So far with the exception of April and July (and of course Hei) the settings are totally different. The story starts of a bit slow but as usual the action and the soundtrack make the whole episode work.

There has to be a back story here that will be fleshed out; Hei looks like a homeless superhero.  This should be a fun one to watch.

Oh, and there was one thing that made me laugh.  One of the main characters of this episode was shooting with a Nekon D201.

Ngee Khiong always has good coverage on most things Gundam related and I’m constantly looking there to see what’s new.

Edit: Sunrise took it down. Bummer.

And now the Blue F91 is fully assembled

This one was rated “Okay”.  The stiffness in some of the joints is a huge problem. On the original (and virtually identical) MG F91, I did not have that worry.

Now I am moving on to the MG Gundam Exia Ignition mode version.  I’ll take more photos.

Blue F91 MG WIP

I had some down time today, so I continued to work on the Harrison Madyn blue F91. All that’s left now is the weapons.  I’ll pose the assembled model next to the Crossbone Gundam as well as the original F91.

The lack of poly caps is good for posing the model but bad for moving the pieces.  The right wrist was so tight that I was afraid I was going to snap the plastic just rotating the hand.

The Blue F91 MG

I’m continuing to go through my backlog of master grade Gundam models and I am now working on the Harrison Madyn blue F91. When I built the other MG F91, I left off all the decals. This time I plan to put on most of them.

I’ll post more photos as I continue building this one. After this one is built I may assemble the MG Gundam Exia Ignition Mode next.

Completed the 1/144 HG 00 Raiser

After I completed the Crossbone Gundam I started the 1/144 HG 00 Raiser designer colors version. Not a bad build and I put on almost all of the decals.

My son built the 1/100 00 Gundam and this one had shared a lot of the same flexibility. With HG models, the build time is very quick so I did not take any in progress pictures. My next model will be the Harrison Madyn’s custom F91 so I may take some in progress pictures.
